Great weekend get away. Spectacular views and hiking. It's laid out well so you have quite areas and seldom run into crowds. Everything is close so it's not too exhausting.. You can close to many small animals and birds. It's a great area for photography. The is the place if your looking to enjoy nature, serenity, easy trails, picturesque, photo moments, bird and nature watching.
Your mileage may vary depending on which island you visit. Be aware that there are rattlesnakes, raccoons, mice and countless critters normally found in the wild....most won't bother you. There are some great vistas but most campsites don't afford much privacy during the summer.
Beautiful views, no mosquitoes, clean. Every site has a dock for boat. The site we picked on long Island was great, but very hard to dock a boat, high wake most of the day, boats go by very close all the time.
I went here over labor day weekend and it was a great experience. The staffers at the dock were very nice and accommodating when we had to get transportation to the island. It has such beautiful views.
If you love the outdoors you must visit the Glen island camping. Gorgeous scenery. Very clean island campsites in the middle of beautiful lake George. Close row to ranger station island that has a camp store with snacks, coffee firewood, and basic camp supplies. Privies, fire rings on each beautiful wooded island and bathrooms on ranger island. We go yearly now.
